Overview of Services

Waterhouse Animal Hospital is a full service  nationally accredited veterinary hospital voted "Best Veterinarian" by The Fresno Bee's Central Valley People's Choice Awards for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

We provide veterinary services for dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets, birds, and reptiles. Following is a partial list of some of the services offered at our hospital.

Complete Physical Examinations - We have seven state of the art exam rooms allowing our staff of caring professionals to provide thorough physical exams.

Safe anesthesia - We use the most modern inhalant anesthetics, Isoflurane and Sevoflurane gas, to make anesthesia as safe as possible for your pet. We use the latest in monitoring technology including pulse oximeters, end tidal CO2 monitor, and Doppler blood pressure monitor to help ensure your pets' safe anesthesia.

surgery_large.jpgSurgery - Our surgical suite with laminar air flow helps protect your pet during surgery and provides the proper environment for the specialized and highly technical surgeries performed by our board-certified veterinary surgeons. The surgery room is equipped with the highest quality instruments, including monitors, cautery and suction, allowing us to perform many soft tissue surgeries such as ovariohysterectomies, neuters, tumor removals, cystotomies, abdominal exploratories, orthopedic surgery and much more.

Dentistry - A very important part of your pet's overall health care. We use Odontoson machines to ultrasonically scale your pets' teeth and take dental x-rays to provide the best dental care possible. We are also fortunate to have Dr. Jana Levin, a veterinarian board-certified in dentistry, perform more specialized procedures such as root canals at our hospital. For more information visit our Dental Care page.

Laboratory - We have state-of-the-art machines that allow us to run complete blood counts, chemistries and many other tests at our hospital. We also contract with a veterinary specialty diagnostic laboratory in Sacramento where we send many of our blood and tissue samples for overnight results.

Endoscopy, Radiology and Ultrasound - Our endoscope, x-ray, and ultrasound machines allow us to see internal organs in great detail for the highest quality of imaging. These tools are vital parts of diagnosing many problems.

Cardiology - Dr. Lori Siemens, Dr. Katie Meier and Dr. Anna Paling, board-certified veterinary cardiologists, visit our hospital and perform echocardiograms, or ultrasounds of the heart, to diagnose and treat heart disease. Their expertise has greatly enhanced the quality of life and longevity of many of our patients.

Immunizations - Vaccines are essential to the well being of your pet. We use quality vaccines available and follow University of California - Davis School of Veterinary Medicine recommended vaccination schedule.

Puppy and Kitten Examinations
- Just like human babies, puppies and kittens need a series of examinations and vaccinations. By starting your puppy and kitten off right, he or she will become a healthy member of your family.

Pharmacy - We carry most drugs needed to treat your pets. Prescriptions can be filled before you leave the hospital. Prescriptions may be refilled by calling our Pharmacy Hot-line 434-4982  24-hours per day to request a refill.

Senior Pet Care - As your pet ages, he needs special care. Our Senior Pet program is aimed at keeping your pet as happy and healthy as possible. Please visit the Senior Pet care section of our web site for more information.

Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy - We have a Registered Veterinary Technician that also has earned the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) certification. She is specifically trained to help dogs build strength and agility after orthopedic surgeries and injuries.

Pet ID's and Microchipping - A microchip is a small device that can be easily inserted under your pet's skin. It is as quick and painless as a vaccine. The owner's information is registered with a national database and if a lost pet is found, the owner can be contacted. Most veterinarians and animal shelters have scanners that read the microchip number and allow the owner to be identified. We use the Home Again microchip system.

Nutrition Counseling and Prescription Diets - Nutrition is an important part of treating some disease processes. We carry a large inventory of many prescription pet foods and can order any that your pets need.

Puppy Socialization Classes - These popular classes are a great way to get your new puppy off to a great start to becoming a wonderful dog.  The classes are held Friday evenings. Contact Kim Toepfer at 930-7485 to reserve your puppy's place in our next class. Puppy socialization is fun for the family too.

Urgent and Emergency Care - During regular office hours please call ahead if possible and proceed directly to our hospital. After hours emergency service is provided by three area emergency clinics.

Grooming- We offer complete grooming services for small dogs and cats. We have three groomers that offer appointments 6 days a week.
